Either someone over at Panasonic let the proverbial cat out of the bag too soon regarding the manufacturer’s plans to ditch plasma in favor of who knows what. Or it was all some big misunderstanding (you know that type that cause panic among share holders) and the rumors -I mean news -that Panasonic was calling it quits on plasma were unfounded. That’s the story coming from Panasonic today as reported earlier by HD Guru; though technically the  report(s) that Panasonic was getting out of the plasma game also came from…Panasonic.

I have a feeling the truth lies somewhere in the middle, meaning I don’t think Panasonic is quitting plasma cold turkey, but the technology, however brilliant, is living on some serious borrowed time. Whichever Panasonic story you choose to believe more is your call, but for the time being it appears Panasonic will continue developing and manufacturing their beloved plasmas a bit longer.

Interesting development. I would agree that they are feeding us a mix of fact and fiction in their statement. I’m pretty sure this story ends with the death of plasma; it may just take a little longer than the initial rumors.
